This nation has survived as a Constitutional Republic for nearly 250 years. Most freedom loving countries last less than 200 years.
Sadly, our time on the world stage may be heading for a closing of the curtain. Like the famous two faces of Janus depicting Comedy and Tragedy, we have played both parts.
Winning freedom, uniting as a nation of states, becoming the most economic and military power perhaps in history and enjoying the greatest bounty of food, energy and industry was a reflection of our comedy face.
Then came wars, 911, droughts, disease and now a government of bumbling and immoral leadership that makes America a figure of tragedy.
We had a brief intermission under a president who ran the government like a prosperous business instead of a political sewer system. Soon the curtain will rise again and Americans will have to decide at the ballot box how the next act will be played. Will we laugh or cry? It is up to us.
